White fillings
Today’s composites (white filling materials) are long-term, strong cosmetic replacements for silver fillings. Composites are bonded to teeth preventing bacterial leakage and wear at rates comparable to enamel.
Root Canals
Today’s technology makes treating an infected nerve a one-appointment procedure. What used to take three appointments, today can be accomplished in as little as one hour. In fact at Holmes Dental Center, the root canal, the filling (build-up) and the crown preparation is routinely done the same day!
Metal-free Crowns and Bridges
Today’s materials are amazingly strong and metal-free. In the past, weaker porcelains were bonded or laminated over stronger metals for support. These products were often susceptible fracture and delamination (separation). Today’s materials are “monolithic” (made of only one very strong material), if correctly designed, fracture and delamination are now a thing of the past.
Crowns are used when decay, wear or fractures affect more than 50% of a tooth. It is cemented permanently, covers the whole tooth and protects from catastrophic fracture and tooth loss.
Bridges are good options for addressing one or more missing teeth. They span the gap created by missing teeth, and are anchored by healthy teeth on either side.
Bruxir/Zirconia is ideal for bruxers (night grinders) and for those allergic to certain metals. Check out the difference, watch the video below.
Partial Dentures are removable bridges that replace multiple missing teeth. However they are removable. The replacement teeth are held in place by a metal framework that clips onto natural teeth on either side of the gap.
Dentures are removable restorations that replace a full arch of teeth. Today dentures can be upgraded to implant-supported appliances that snap in place for better comfort and retention.
